Charlamagne Challenges Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer: "Cut the Hypocrisy" Over Oligarchy Concerns
Charlamagne tha God called out Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., for hypocrisy over their sudden concern about big money in politics.
"I think it's ridiculous even when they try to say things, you know, all these conversations about oligarchy, oligarchy, oligarchy," Charlamagne said on "The Breakfast Club" Monday. "Now Bernie [Sanders] and AOC, they can go out there and say, ‘Fight the oligarchy.’ Hakeem Jeffries, you can't say that, okay, like, cut it out, we know that you've taken so much money from corporate donors."
"So, it's just weird to see them, you know, push back against oligarchy now and say, 'Look at the billionaires controlling Trump.' It's like, really? You, Hakeem, really? Chuck Schumer, really?" Charlamagne added.
According to OpenSecrets.org, Some of Schumer's largest contributions originate from corporations such as Blackstone Group, Nextera Energy, Newmark Group, and L3Harris Technologies.

Prior coverage from Fox News Digital discovered that Democracy PAC II Linked to George Soros, contributed $2.5 million to Schumer’s Senate Majority PAC in 2024. Democracy PAC II also donated $3.5 million in 2022 and another $2.5 million in 2021, bringing their overall contribution to $6 million.

Jeffries’ profile on OpenSecrets.org is comparable, with many of his biggest contributions originating from BlackRock Inc and Lockheed Martin.
Furthermore, in February, Politico reported That Jeffries had confidential meetings with key contributors in Silicon Valley.
"I understand there are individuals who believe Joe Biden should be involved in rebuilding efforts due to his status as the most recent former president and thus the de facto leader of the party. To these folks, I would like to respond: Hunter, cut back on the crack," Charlamagne quipped.
"Who's meant to be the leader here? In Congress, there are two key figures. The primary one is House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries." At this point, he played a clip showing Jeffries dressed formally but without a tie, along with sunglasses standing just outside the U.S. Capitol Building discussing democracy.
Charlamagne referred to Schumer as "Obama’s budget-friendly equivalent in the Senate" and added that he found him "even less inspirational."
Charlamagne has previously criticized the two congressional Democratic minority leaders, as he did again recently. ridiculing them as party chiefs suggesting they should be "removed from power."

On Sunday, Jeffries, together with Senator Cory Booker from New Jersey, organized a sit-in on the steps. U.S. Capitol to protest President Donald Trump's proposed budget plan includes claimed reductions to programs like Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.
Fox News Digital reached out to Schumer and Jeffries for comments, but didn’t get an immediate reply.
