Chester County Announces 2025 Sustainability Summit at West Chester University

WEST CHESTER, PA On Saturday, May 17, the Chester County Planning Commission will host the 2025 Sustainability Summit and Expo at West Chester University. This eagerly awaited gathering seeks to involve local residents, companies, and community leaders in talks and initiatives focused on sustainability and environmental stewardship.

Starting at 10:00 a.m., the schedule includes an array of events with two main talks. The session titled "Sustainable Energy" is set for 10:15 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., succeeded by "Sustainable Landscaping," which will take place from 11:15 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. For those who cannot make it during these hours, both sessions will also occur again between noon and 2:00 p.m.

Participants have the chance to browse through an exhibition featuring more than 40 exhibitors and community groups, providing materials and insights on how to integrate sustainability into everyday routines. If the weather cooperates, the gathering will include displays of electric vehicles as well as chances for residents to exchange stories about using solar power, geothermal technology, and various environmentally friendly practices.

Notable features consist of a complimentary distribution of indigenous plants and a free meal for everyone who attends.

Rachael Griffith, who serves as the county’s Sustainability Director, stressed the significance of collaborative efforts, noting, "The Chester County Climate Action Plan aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across the county by 80% by 2050, and achieving this requires everyone to join forces."
