Bridgeport to Reimagine Ida-Ravaged Land as a $1M Eco-Oasis

Bridgeport will be getting a new park at the site that was severely damaged by Hurricane Ida Four years ago, according to Justin Heinze writing for the Patch .
The plot of land at the intersection of Front Street and Depot Street has deteriorated significantly. Over time, it has turned into a cluttered space filled with rampant weeds and litter that have piled up since the storm devastated the region.
“This new recreational space will transform vacant lots into a community asset, improving access to outdoor amenities in a historically underserved area,” said Montgomery County officials.
The borough has been granted almost $1 million as part of a recent allocation of federal assistance funds aimed at tackling the destruction left behind by Hurricane Ida. In total, Montgomery County has obtained $9 million through these grants, out of which $817,563 has been designated for initiating the development of Bridgeport’s new public park.
Additional information regarding the park’s development, such as the construction schedule, will be disclosed to the public at a future time.
